Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Check the routing tables: R1 knows only EIGRP routes, R3 only OSPF routes.
On R2, redistribute EIGRP 100 into OSPF, including subnets.
On R2, redistribute OSPF 1 into EIGRP with a seed metric.
Confirm R3 shows an O_ASE route and R1 a D EX route.
Ping PC2 from PC1.
Before you start
Without the subnets keyword, Cisco OSPF only redistributes classful networks. EIGRP needs a seed metric (bandwidth delay reliability load MTU) for routes from other protocols.
Concept
Redistribution between routing protocols
Each routing protocol keeps its own routes. A router that runs two of them can copy (redistribute, or on Huawei import) routes from one into the other, so both domains reach each other.
Concept
EIGRP successors and feasible successors
EIGRP is Cisco’s advanced distance-vector protocol. For each destination it picks the best path (the successor) and keeps a pre-checked loop-free backup (the feasible successor) that it can switch to instantly.
