Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Start router ospf 1 on SW1, SW2 and SW3 with router IDs 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2 and 3.3.3.3.
Advertise every connected network in area 0.0.0.0 using prefix notation.
Make the host-facing interfaces passive on SW1 and SW3.
Check show ip ospf neighbor: SW2 has two FULL neighbors.
Ping PC2 (192.168.3.10) from PC1.
Before you start
EOS writes OSPF networks in prefix form: network 10.0.12.0/30 area 0.0.0.0. A passive interface still advertises its subnet but sends no hellos onto the host LAN.
Concept
OSPF: link-state routing and cost
OSPF routers share a map of the network (link-state advertisements) and each runs the shortest path first (SPF) algorithm on it. The best path is the one with the lowest total cost, not the fewest hops.
