Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Enable feature pim on N1 and N2 and ip pim sparse-mode on every routed interface.
Set ip igmp version 3 on N2’s Ethernet1/2 (the receiver port).
On PC3 join 232.1.1.1 from source 10.1.1.10, then ping 232.1.1.1 from SRC: PC3 replies.
On N2, show ip mroute lists only the (10.1.1.10, 232.1.1.1) entry.
Before you start
SSM builds a source tree straight away: there is no (*,G) and no RP. With IGMPv2 the switch cannot learn the source, so the join is ignored.
Concept
Source-specific multicast (SSM)
With SSM the receiver names the source as well as the group, so its router can join the source straight away. There is no RP, no register and no shared tree; a channel is simply (S,G). The SSM range is 232.0.0.0/8.
