Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Enable pim ipv4 sparse-mode on every routed interface and routing under router multicast → ipv4.
Under router pim sparse-mode → ipv4 configure ssm range standard (232.0.0.0/8).
On PC3 join 232.1.1.1 from source 10.1.1.10, then ping 232.1.1.1 from SRC: PC3 replies.
On R3, show ip mroute lists only the (10.1.1.10, 232.1.1.1) entry.
Before you start
Without an SSM range, 232/8 is an ordinary sparse-mode group that needs an RP. ssm range standard makes the switch build only (S,G) state for those groups.
Concept
Source-specific multicast (SSM)
With SSM the receiver names the source as well as the group, so its router can join the source straight away. There is no RP, no register and no shared tree; a channel is simply (S,G). The SSM range is 232.0.0.0/8.
