Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
R1 (Nokia): IS-IS instance 0, area-address [49.0001], level-capability 2, link point-to-point, system and LAN passive.
R2 (Huawei): isis 1 with network-entity 49.0001.0000.0000.0002.00 and is-level level-2.
Enable IS-IS on R2’s interfaces, with the LAN silent.
Both routers show a Level 2 adjacency and learn the far LAN.
Ping PC2 from PC1.
Before you start
Nokia builds its system ID from the system address (1.1.1.1 → 0010.0100.1001); Huawei takes the whole NET. Point-to-point on one side needs point-to-point on the other: Huawei uses isis circuit-type p2p.
Concept
IS-IS levels and the ATT default route
IS-IS is the link-state protocol most providers run in their core. Routers are identified by a NET such as 49.0001.0000.0000.0001.00 (area, system ID, selector). Level 1 routes within an area, Level 2 between areas, and Level 1-2 routers join the two.
