Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Run OSPF 1 with router IDs 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2 and 3.3.3.3, all interfaces in area 0.
Make the PC1 LAN interface on R1 silent (silent-interface).
On R3, add a static default route to the ISP (203.0.113.1).
Advertise the default into OSPF from R3 (default-route-advertise).
Ping 8.8.8.8 from PC1.
Before you start
ospf 1 router-id x.x.x.x, then area 0 and network statements. default-route-advertise requires a default route on R3 (or always).
Concept
Advertising a default route in OSPF
An edge router that knows the way out (for example a static default toward the ISP) can inject 0.0.0.0/0 into OSPF, so every other router learns where to send Internet traffic without its own static route.
Concept
OSPF: link-state routing and cost
OSPF routers share a map of the network (link-state advertisements) and each runs the shortest path first (SPF) algorithm on it. The best path is the one with the lowest total cost, not the fewest hops.
