Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
Configure VRRP group 1 (virtual IP 192.168.10.1) on R1 and R2.
Give R1 priority 120 so it becomes master.
Track R1 uplink: lower its priority by 30 when the uplink fails.
Ping PC2 from PC1 through the virtual gateway.
Shut down R1 uplink G0/1 (G0/1): R2 must take over and PC1 must still reach PC2.
Before you start
Cisco: vrrp 1 ip, vrrp 1 priority, track 1 interface g0/1 line-protocol + vrrp 1 track 1 decrement 30. Huawei: vrrp vrid 1 virtual-ip / priority / track interface g0/0/1 reduced 30. VRRP preempts by default.
Concept
HSRP and VRRP: a gateway that survives a failure
Hosts have one default gateway. A first-hop redundancy protocol lets two routers share a virtual IP (and virtual MAC) as that gateway: one router answers for it, the other takes over if it fails.
