Objectives
The simulator ticks each one as soon as the network meets it.
SW1: IP interface "core" 10.0.0.1/30 on VLAN 100 and "lan" 192.168.10.1/24 on VLAN 10.
SW2: IP interface "core" 10.0.0.2/30 on VLAN 100 and "lan" 192.168.20.1/24 on VLAN 20.
Add ip static-route 192.168.20.0/24 gateway 10.0.0.2 on SW1 and 192.168.10.0/24 gateway 10.0.0.1 on SW2.
Check show ip routes for the STATIC route.
Ping PC2 from PC1.
Before you start
AOS writes a static route as ip static-route gateway , optionally with metric n. Its route preference is 2 (local routes are 1, OSPF is 110), so a static route beats OSPF for the same prefix. A route is needed in both directions, or the replies are lost.
Concept
OmniSwitch: VLAN membership and IP interfaces
An Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch has no configuration mode: every command is global and takes effect at once. Ports are added to VLANs from the VLAN side (vlan 10 members port 1/1/2 untagged), and a VLAN is routed by binding a named IP interface to it. Routing between IP interfaces is on by default.
Concept
Static routes and the routing table
A static route is an entry you type yourself: “to reach this network, send to this next hop”. Routers know only their directly connected subnets until you add routes or run a routing protocol.
